Job Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required
  • Selective Service registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
  • Must submit SF-50 form
  • Must meet qualification requirements by closing date
  • Education may not be substituted for experience
  • May be subject to a background investigation
  • One-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required
  • May be required to file a financial disclosure statement
  • Must comply with FAA policies on outside employment and financial investments
  • Must submit FAA Form 3330-43 and supporting documents
  • Must provide detailed work history and qualifications in application

Job Qualifications

  • Must have held an FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year
  • OR must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year at an ATS facility
  • OR must have held an MSS position for at least 1 year in an ATS facility and held an MSS-3, MSS-4, or FAA 2152 FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year
  • Experience managing operational and support air traffic control personnel
  • Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations and air traffic control procedures

Job Duties

  • Serve as an Air Traffic Manager in an ATC-7 terminal facility and plan and direct all activities at the facility
  • Direct a highly technical workforce including functionally integrated teams of operational and support personnel
  • Continuously review work processes to ensure alignment with FAA's mission and customer needs
  • Provide training, coaching, and guidance to subordinates and foster team building
  • Plan work assignments and set priorities
  • Approve leave, prepare schedules, assign work, evaluate performance, resolve grievances, and make disciplinary decisions
  • Communicate and reinforce Equal Employment Opportunity policies and support the labor management partnership process
  • Meet and liaise with high-ranking military and civilian managers, aviation industry representatives, union representatives, and other stakeholders
