Within this extensive and dynamic organization, the Food and Nutrition Department at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center seeks a dedicated Food Service Supervisor. This full-time, benefits-eligible position involves working a variable schedule, including weekends, and offers a competitive pay range of $24.10 to $36.15 per hour. The position requires oversight of multi-functional food service operations including retail areas like sandwich stands, salad bars, grills, hot foods, and tray lines, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction through effective management and operational oversight. The Food Service Supervisor plays a pivotal role in daily operations, ensuring that employees have the necessary equipment, inventory, and resources to meet goals and deadlines. They will assist with cash controls and payroll functions, monitor and resolve potential problems, and delegate responsibilities effectively. Providing positive and constructive feedback to employees is a key function of this role, aimed at rewarding, coaching, correcting, and motivating employees to perform at their best.

Moreover, the supervisor ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as hospital policies involving quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel. The role involves establishing safety measures, conducting relevant training, and maintaining equipment to create a safe and compliant work environment. The Food Service Supervisor also sets and implements quality improvement standards, fosters employee relations and satisfaction, and maintains high service delivery standards. Job Duties

  • Directs daily operations of multi-functional food service operations to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources to perform jobs, meet goals and deadlines
  • Assists in the maintenance of cash controls and payroll functions (time sheets, records, schedules etc.)
  • Probes potential problems and apprises the leader of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate resource when necessary
  • Supervises day-to-day work activities by delegating authority, assigning and prioritizing activities and monitoring operating standards
  • Ensures top concerns are given priority
  • Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback to employees in order to reward, coach, correct and motivate
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as hospital policies and procedures (e.g. quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel)
  • Establishes a safe work environment for employees by providing safety-related training and equipment maintenance and by ensuring compliance with safety and loss prevention programs and with standards
  • Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them
  • Maintains and develops employee relationships and satisfaction for multi-functional food service areas retail and patients to ensure all regulatory standards are in place
  • Accountable for the execution of service quality by maintaining highest level of delivery
  • Promotes and supports workplace diversity initiatives
