Known for its pioneering work in pediatric healthcare, St. Jude is dedicated to advancing cures and means of prevention for childhood diseases through research and treatment. This establishment combines compassionate care with cutting-edge scientific research, making it a leader in the healthcare industry. The hospital operates with a strong mission to provide comprehensive care while ensuring that no family receives a bill for treatment, travel, housing, or food. The facilities services department plays a crucial role in supporting the hospital’s operational excellence, particularly within its food services division, providing nourishment and comfort to patients, families, and staff members.
The role of Supervisor-Barista at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s food services department is a pivotal position that blends hands-on barista duties with leadership and operational management in a fast-paced café setting. This full-time position works weekdays, typically from 9:15 am to 5:45 pm, with rotating weekends and holidays, supporting a team that delivers high-quality beverages and exceptional customer service. The Supervisor-Barista is responsible for leading and supporting a team of baristas and ensures that the daily café operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with the hospital’s rigorous standards for cleanliness, safety, and product quality.
This role not only involves preparing and serving beverages but also coordinating staff schedules, assisting with training, managing inventory, and liaising between front-line café personnel and management to promote a positive, productive work environment. Supervisors foster a welcoming atmosphere for guests by ensuring exemplary service and handling customer needs professionally. The position requires someone who is proactive in monitoring food services policies and procedures and contributes to reducing waste and optimizing production. The Supervisor-Barista is encouraged to stay current with industry trends and implement new techniques to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
St. Jude values employees who demonstrate strong leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to remain calm under pressure. Physical fitness and the ability to work in dynamic, sometimes stressful conditions are important aspects of the job. The hospital also offers a competitive estimated salary range of $24.00 to $42.00 per hour for this role, which reflects skill sets, experience, training, and certifications. Furthermore, it provides comprehensive benefits designed to support the health and well-being of its staff.
By joining St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as a Supervisor-Barista, professionals have the opportunity to contribute to an organization that not only delivers exceptional healthcare services but also impacts the lives of children worldwide. Working in this capacity means being part of a team committed to excellence in customer service, operational ingenuity, and high standards of food safety and quality, all while advancing the mission of one of the most respected institutions in pediatric healthcare.
