Job Description

The Kalispel Tribe of Indians operates a premier gaming and hospitality enterprise located in the state of Washington, dedicated to delivering a high-quality customer experience steeped in community values and cultural heritage. As a leader in the regional hospitality and gaming industry, the tribe maintains strict compliance with regulations and prioritizes the health, safety, and satisfaction of its guests. Their commitment to excellence extends across all levels of service, offering a dynamic work environment that fosters growth, inclusivity, and respect for tribal traditions and modern operational standards.

This food service position is essential in maintaining the freshness, presentation, and overall quality of food served to guests. It supports the kitchen staff by assisting with food preparation and presentation, ensuring menu specifications are met through standard operating procedures, and adhering to food safety protocols dictated by the FDA and local health regulations, including HACCP compliance. The individual in this role plays a vital part in the daily operations of the food and beverage areas by managing food storage, portioning, garnishing, and assisting with the setup and breakdown of buffets.

The role requires answering guest inquiries regarding menu offerings, applying food item tags for clear identification, and working proactively to suggest operational improvements within the kitchen. Emphasis is placed on cleanliness and sanitation, with duties including the careful cleaning and sanitizing of work areas, equipment, and utensils, along with waste segregation and removal. Communication skills are paramount, as the employee must efficiently relay information on food usage and quality control to the cooks and other kitchen personnel.

Working for the Kalispel Tribe means adhering to a comprehensive set of guidelines ensuring compliance with the tribal-state gaming compact, internal controls, and regulations enforced by the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC). While this role does not include supervisory responsibilities, it requires a collaborative attitude and dedication to upholding company policies and standards. Employment is contingent upon a favorable background check, adherence to drug testing protocols, and the ability to obtain necessary permits such as the Tribal Work Permit and Washington State Food Handler Permit.

The ideal candidate will bring at least one year of food service experience or equivalent training, paired with a high school diploma or GED. They must possess computer literacy, especially in Microsoft programs, and demonstrate proficiency in basic math relevant to food service operations. The position demands physical capability to lift or move objects up to 50 pounds and withstand frequent standing, walking, and repetitive hand movements. Work schedules will include nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the operational hours of the hospitality venue.

Overall, this position offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a respected tribal organization known for its gaming and hospitality excellence. Candidates can expect a supportive work environment where cultural integrity meets professional standards, providing a strong foundation for career growth within the food service industry.
