Job Description
St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International, represents the epitome of luxury hospitality, offering exquisite experiences at more than 50 locations worldwide. The brand was originally established in New York by John Jacob Astor IV at the dawn of the twentieth century and has since maintained its reputation for bespoke and anticipatory service. Known for combining timeless glamour with a vanguard spirit, St. Regis is dedicated to delivering flawless guest services through a team of gracious hosts who embody both classic sophistication and modern sensibility. As part of Marriott International, St. Regis benefits from a rich network of prestigious brands and is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive work environment where diverse backgrounds and unique talents are celebrated and valued.
The role available at the St. Regis located at Two East 55th Street at Fifth Ave, New York, is a full-time, non-management position categorized under Rooms & Guest Services Operations. This position offers a competitive hourly pay rate ranging from $24.48 to $32.64, with tip eligibility and additional training pay of $48.96 to $65.28 per hour during the training period. The job primarily involves engaging with guests by greeting and escorting them to their rooms, assisting with their luggage, and providing information about property amenities, services, and local attractions. The role is vital to creating a memorable and welcoming experience for guests, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction throughout their stay.
Employees in this role are expected to open doors and assist guests or visitors as they enter or leave the property, communicate transportation and parking procedures, and arrange various transportation options such as taxi, shuttle, or limousine services. Duties also encompass understanding and explaining room features like the mini-bar, in-room safe, and laundry services, ensuring guests feel well-oriented and comfortable. The position requires physical stamina, as it includes moving, lifting, and carrying luggage that can weigh up to 50 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance, as well as navigating uneven surfaces, stairs, and ramps.
Moreover, adherence to company policies is crucial, as is the obligation to report unsafe conditions or incidents and to maintain a professional personal appearance. The role demands excellent communication skills, proper telephone etiquette, and the ability to build positive relationships with guests and team members. Team members are expected to perform other reasonable duties as requested by supervisors and maintain confidentiality regarding proprietary information.
Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, though no previous related work or supervisory experience is required. This makes it a great entry-level opportunity for candidates interested in beginning their careers in hospitality at a prestigious luxury brand. St. Regis and Marriott International emphasize equal employment opportunities and welcome applicants from all backgrounds, committed to non-discrimination based on protected characteristics including disability and veteran status.
Joining St. Regis means becoming part of a global team that supports personal and professional growth, encourages making meaningful contributions, and promotes workplace diversity and inclusion. It is a chance to belong to one of the world’s most respected luxury hotel brands, where employees are empowered to do their best work, realize their purpose, and develop into the best versions of themselves.
