Job Description
Grand Canyon Education (GCE) operates closely with Grand Canyon University (GCU), a prestigious private Christian university renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and student success. GCU offers a vibrant campus environment that fosters personal and professional growth among its students. GCE supports GCU’s mission by facilitating interactive and informative campus visitation experiences, designed to welcome prospective and current students while representing the university’s values and educational opportunities.
This employment opportunity focuses on various student worker roles within the Campus Visitation department at Grand Canyon University. These positions are instrumental in providing recruits and visitors with a welcoming, organized, and informative introduction to the university. Students employed in these roles gain hands-on experience through direct interaction with prospective students, participation in campus events, and support of administrative operations. The employment is on a student-worker basis, paying minimum wage, and is available until June 30, 2025. Employment in these roles offers flexible hours designed to accommodate a student’s academic schedule, with occasional evening and weekend work as necessary.
The available student positions include a variety of specialized roles such as Program Development Specialist Intern, Office Assistant, Discover GCU Host, Dual Enrollment Counselor, GCU Live Lesson Junior Presenter, ARC Tour Guide, Travel & Events Scheduling Associate, Housemen, Housekeeping Attendant, Laundry Attendant, Public Areas Attendant, Discover Travel & Events Administrator, and GCU Day Host. Each role plays a distinct part in enhancing the campus visitation experience and operational efficiency. For example, the Program Development Specialist Intern supports the creation and execution of recruit-facing programs and offers personalized insights into the student life at GCU. The Office Assistant ensures an organized and welcoming office environment to better serve prospective students and university staff.
Discover GCU Hosts and GCU Day Hosts act as university ambassadors during specific events, guiding guests and facilitating smooth event operations while promoting a positive and safe atmosphere. Dual Enrollment Counselors focus on assisting high school students interested in enrolling in GCU courses before graduation. Similarly, ARC Tour Guides conduct campus tours tailored to various visitor needs, including individual, group, virtual, or golf cart tours. Operational roles such as the Travel & Events Scheduling Associate manage travel logistics, ensuring guest arrivals and departures align with event schedules.
Supporting roles like Housemen, Housekeeping Attendants, Laundry Attendants, and Public Areas Attendants are critical for maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of guest accommodations within the Discover Dorms and GCU Hotel, highlighting the university’s commitment to hospitality and student comfort.
All student workers collaborate extensively with GCU and GCE staff, prospective students, and guests, utilizing effective communication and presentation skills to represent the university’s academic and community excellence. These roles provide an excellent opportunity for students to develop professional skills, gain valuable work experience, and contribute meaningfully to the university’s mission and campus atmosphere. Candidates must be full-time GCU students, maintain academic and financial good standing, and be willing to work an average of 20 hours per week, with summer availability preferred.
