The Student Service-Parking Attendant role is an integral part of the Purdue Athletics Event Operations team. This position is designed to support parking operations during varsity sports and other athletic events hosted at Purdue venues such as Ross-Ade Stadium and Mackey Arena. As the first point of contact for fans arriving to athletic events, the Parking Attendant is responsible for providing outstanding customer service, ensuring efficient parking lot operations, and enforcing the athletics tailgate policies and parking guidelines. The role involves managing parking areas that include paved lots, grass fields, gravel spaces, and parking garages, requiring attention to detail and a commitment to optimizing space for safety and accessibility.
This non-exempt, part-time student position offers an exceptional opportunity to gain valuable experience in event operations and customer service within a dynamic collegiate athletics environment. The role demands excellent interpersonal skills, strong time management abilities, and physical stamina, as it involves manual labor such as lifting, carrying, and extended periods of standing and walking. The Parking Attendant will collaborate closely with supervisors, Purdue University Police Department officers, and other event staff to address any issues that arise and maintain a smooth flow of traffic and parking on event days.
In addition to parking management, the attendant is expected to be knowledgeable about game day details to assist fans with accurate directions and information regarding stadium areas, nearby parking facilities, and ticketing offices. This position is not only about managing vehicles but also about enhancing the overall fan experience through positive engagement and professional service. Working in this role allows students to develop essential skills in communication, teamwork, attention to detail, and problem-solving within the context of a fast-paced, high-energy sporting environment.

- Maintain effective working relationship with co-workers and athletic staff
Job Duties
- Assist with parking operations for all varsity sports and other events hosted in athletic venues
- First point of contact, greet all fans positively and provide high quality customer service
- Assist parking vehicles in paved, grass, gravel and parking garages
- Ensure Purdue Athletics tailgate policies and guidelines are followed by all fans
- Communicate with supervisors of any tailgate policies and/or guidelines being violated
- Evaluate parking to ensure optimal utilization of area and maintain safety for all guests
- Park vehicles efficiently to take advantage of all available space
- Prior to lots opening, notify event management how many vehicles need to be ticketed and towed
- Position or remove barricades to prevent parking in certain spots
- Work with onsite PUPD officers to resolve parking lot issues
- Have an understanding of game day details and provide fans with game day information and provide accurate directions to surrounding parking lots, Ross-Ade Stadium, Mackey Arena and ticket office
