The Manager in Training (MIT) role at EG America represents a fantastic opportunity for ambitious, high-energy individuals passionate about retail leadership. This full-time position offers the chance to learn and develop key managerial skills through a structured training process that combines hands-on experience with guidance from seasoned leaders such as Training Managers and Supervising Managers. Over the course of the training period, MITs engage in diverse shifts and comprehensive exposure to all operational aspects including team management, customer service excellence, inventory control, merchandising, food safety protocols, and store cleanliness. This role demands a versatile leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, particularly those with prior experience in retail, food service, or restaurant management.
Managers in Training are integral in supporting Store Managers to maintain smooth day-to-day operations while fostering an engaging and positive team atmosphere. They participate actively in recruiting, coaching, scheduling, and nurturing a strong, motivated sales floor team. The role emphasizes accountability, goal-setting, and effective communication to deliver a superior shopping experience for customers. Additionally, MITs gain experience operating cash registers efficiently and supporting food service quality control where applicable. As part of the bench leadership team after completing training, MITs are prepared to step into leadership roles, filling in during absences or eventually taking on their own store management positions.
EG America is dedicated to career advancement, offering ample growth opportunities thanks to its extensive footprint across the country. The company’s culture places high value on teamwork, adaptability, and customer-focus, making it an ideal environment for a driven individual ready to take the next step in retail management. Work schedules for this position are varied, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, tailored to the operational needs of stores some of which operate 24 hours. The physical demands include the ability to lift and move merchandise, stand and walk for extended periods, and maintain performance in varying temperature conditions within the store environment.
Overall, this role is perfectly suited for someone with a passion for retail leadership, a strong work ethic, and an eagerness to learn and grow within a supportive corporate structure. EG America’s comprehensive benefits package, structured training program, and culture of inclusion and support make it an attractive employer for those looking to build a rewarding career in the retail industry.
