Job Description

Michaels is the leading destination for all things creative and celebratory across North America. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada, along with a robust online presence at Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. The company also owns Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise, further solidifying its commitment to fostering creativity. Recognized for its dedication to fueling joy through creativity and celebration, Michaels offers a welcoming environment where customers and team members can create, innovate, and connect. The store located on Vegas-Rainbow Blvd in Nevada is part of this expansive network, providing local communities with a wide selection of craft supplies and creative solutions.

The Event Coordinator role at Michaels Vegas-Rainbow Blvd carries a dynamic and engaging set of responsibilities designed to ensure customers have memorable, fun, and stress-free experiences. Primarily, this role revolves around planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of events within the Michaels store environment, including children’s birthday parties and other craft-related classes or events. The role demands excellent customer service skills, with a focus on helping customers shop effectively and providing a swift, friendly checkout experience. It is also operationally involved, supporting truck unloading, merchandising duties, and maintaining store standards. This position plays a vital part in delivering Michaels' Brand Promises and reinforcing the company’s reputation for quality customer care and engaging community activities.

As an Event Coordinator, you will be working directly with a diverse client base, ranging from children to senior guests, creating an inclusive and inviting atmosphere of creativity and fun. Leading craft projects, performing face painting, managing party add-ons like goody bags and balloons, and ensuring client satisfaction at every event are key aspects of the role. Communication with clients and team members is essential, as is the ability to manage administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing necessary paperwork. Flexibility is a must, as you will need to adapt plans based on client feedback and prepare backup ideas to guarantee smooth event execution.

The position also emphasizes upholding cleanliness and safety standards before, during, and after all events, contributing to an enjoyable and secure environment for all. Additionally, the role supports everyday store operations through assisting with product location, promoting rewards and credit programs, executing Omni-channel services like Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS), and contributing to merchandising and stocking tasks. This hybrid mix of event coordination and broad retail duties makes the role uniquely challenging and rewarding, ideal for energetic individuals with a passion for customer service and creative engagement.

Michaels values vibrant, enthusiastic personalities that can handle the stresses of retail and event coordination while maintaining excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working with children and organizing children’s events is a significant advantage. The physical demands of the job include standing for extended periods, moving throughout the store, and handling inventory tasks such as lifting boxes and using ladders. Michaels ensures accommodations for employees who require them to perform essential job functions safely. Compensation for this role ranges from $12.00 to $14.10 per hour, reflecting the responsibility and skill required.

As a company committed to inclusive hiring, Michaels offers robust benefits to both full-time and part-time employees, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts. The company promotes a respectful, positive work culture and is an Equal Opportunity Employer, fostering diversity and inclusion in the workplace. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who love creativity, customer engagement, and the excitement of event management within a well-established and supportive retail environment.
