The Bakery Team Member role at Whole Foods Market is an essential position responsible for preparing and baking bakery products that meet the company’s high-quality standards. Working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, team members engage in all aspects of baking, including measuring, mixing, shaping dough, monitoring baking processes, and ensuring products are consistent with Whole Foods Market's specifications and recipes. This position requires adherence to store and team standard operating procedures, ensuring health and safety compliance including food safety regulations, and providing exceptional customer service that reflects Whole Foods Market’s dedication to excellence. The role also involves inventory management tasks such as prepping, storing, rotating, and merchandising bakery items to maximize sales potential. Job Requirements

  • must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing or walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures around 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Qualifications

  • 6-12 months retail experience
  • thorough product knowledge
  • working knowledge and application of all merchandising expectations within the department

Job Duties

  • Measures, mixes, and prepares raw materials according to company specifications and recipes
  • forms, cuts, molds, shapes, and bakes dough
  • monitors cooking completion times and sets heat and humidity temperatures for proof box
  • checks product to ensure it meets Whole Foods Market quality standards
  • ensures temperature, sweep, and sanitation logs are completed
  • arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • maximizes sales potential through effective prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • follows and complies with established procedures including health and sanitation and safe work practices
  • maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • immediately reports safety hazards and violations
  • performs other duties as assigned by store or regional leadership
