Job Description

In-N-Out Burger is a renowned fast-food restaurant chain that was founded in 1948 by Harry and Esther Snyder in Baldwin Park, California. The company remains privately owned and operated, committed to maintaining the original philosophy of serving only the highest quality products prepared fresh and served in a clean and friendly environment. Over the decades, In-N-Out Burger has expanded its footprint to several states across the western United States, including California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Colorado, Idaho, and Washington. Despite its growth, the company has stayed true to its simple menu and quality-first approach, building a strong reputation for fresh, made-to-order food served by exceptionally friendly and well-trained Associates.

The company prides itself on its fast-paced, fun, and team-oriented work environment where Associates are valued members of the In-N-Out family. With thousands of Associates working in various locations, In-N-Out Burger offers competitive hourly wages with regular opportunities for raises and advancement, a flexible scheduling system, and benefits such as paid vacation time, profit sharing, 401(k) plans, educational assistance, and medical benefits for full-time Associates. Furthermore, the company organizes numerous fun events and fosters team camaraderie, making it more than just a workplace but a place to grow and develop a rewarding career.

The position available is for a Level 1 Store Associate, an entry-level role designed to introduce new hires to the company’s standards and culture with comprehensive training. No prior experience is necessary, as the company provides all the necessary tools and training for success. The role focuses on providing outstanding customer service in a high-quality food environment. Associates are expected to engage with customers warmly and proactively, taking orders, serving food, maintaining cleanliness, and contributing to the overall customer experience that defines In-N-Out Burger. This role is essential in upholding the company’s values of quality, cleanliness, and hospitality.

As a Store Associate, you will start by taking customer orders, processing payments, organizing and distributing food and drink orders, and conducting quality control to ensure all items meet In-N-Out’s high standards. You will also prepare fresh produce such as peeling and dicing potatoes, slicing onions and tomatoes, and managing lettuce. Teamwork is a crucial part of this role, where Associates support each other, ask for help when needed, and contribute to maintaining a spotless environment by cleaning workstations and other areas before, during, and after shifts. Over time, Associates have the opportunity to learn more complex skills, including food preparation and cooking, leading to potential raises and advancement opportunities.

This position is ideal for individuals with a positive and friendly attitude, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and a solid work ethic. The company encourages growth and development, with many current Store and Divisional Managers having started as hourly Associates, progressing through In-N-Out’s ongoing training and development programs. In-N-Out Burger is also proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and ensures reasonable accommodations during the interview process to support all candidates. Joining In-N-Out Burger means becoming part of a company that values quality service, fresh food, and the people who deliver it, fostering a career path built on trust, respect, and opportunity.
