Job Description

In-N-Out Burger is a privately owned and operated fast-food restaurant chain that was founded in 1948 by Harry and Esther Snyder in Baldwin Park, California. Since its inception, the company has remained true to its core values and simple philosophy: serve only the highest quality products, maintain a clean and sparkling environment, and provide exceptional customer service. Over the years, In-N-Out has expanded its reach across several states, including California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Colorado, Idaho, and Washington. The brand has built a strong reputation for fresh, made-to-order food prepared by friendly and well-trained Associates. The company prides itself on offering a very limited and consistent menu, keeping its focus on quality over quantity and ensuring a memorable experience for every customer who walks through the door.

The work environment at In-N-Out Burger is fast-paced, fun, and team-oriented, creating a positive atmosphere where employees feel valued and part of a family. The company employs thousands of Associates across multiple states and provides various benefits such as competitive hourly wages, opportunities for advancement, flexible scheduling, paid vacation time, profit sharing, 401(k) plans, and medical benefits for full-time Associates. The educational assistance program and numerous fun events make working at In-N-Out not just a job but an experience where Associates can grow personally and professionally.

The role of a Level 1 Store Associate at In-N-Out Burger is the entry-level position where all new employees start. This role serves as the foundation for a career at In-N-Out, with extensive training provided to help Associates succeed and advance within the company. The Store Associate is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service by anticipating and fulfilling customer needs with a friendly and positive attitude. This includes taking customer orders accurately, operating the register and computer terminal, and ensuring every food and drink order meets the company’s high standards through quality control checks.

Additionally, Associates play an essential role in food preparation, working with fresh produce such as peeling and dicing potatoes, slicing tomatoes, and chopping onions. They work within a team-oriented environment, proactively offering and seeking help to keep the workflow smooth. Maintaining cleanliness is a critical aspect of the role, where Associates ensure their workstations and the surrounding store are spotless before, during, and after shifts. This commitment to cleanliness reflects the company’s dedication to quality and customer satisfaction.

As Associates grow with the company, they acquire new skills, including preparing and cooking food, and they become eligible for raises and promotions. In-N-Out encourages all its employees to develop their careers internally, with many Store Managers and Divisional Managers having started as hourly Associates. This career progression is supported by ongoing training and development programs, creating an environment where every team member's contribution is recognized and valued.

Working at In-N-Out Burger means being part of a company that values quality, teamwork, and a positive work experience. The company offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, along with equal employment opportunities and reasonable accommodations during the hiring process. This makes In-N-Out a standout employer in the fast-food industry, focused on building a strong, motivated, and friendly workforce dedicated to serving the freshest, highest quality food in a warm, welcoming environment.
