The role in question is that of a Steward, an essential position responsible for maintaining the sanitation and cleanliness of the restaurant's tableware and kitchen equipment. The Steward works primarily in an outdoor location and handles non-tipped responsibilities, ensuring that all dishware and cooking utensils are properly cleaned using specialized dishwashing equipment. The position requires a strong understanding and adherence to food safety guidelines and company policies. It demands efficiency and speed to maintain an ample supply of clean tableware and cookware for seamless dining operations. The Steward also plays a critical role in sanitation through daily logs and conformity to the Disney 5-Keys Basics and Service Basics protocols. Job Requirements
- Must be able to perform all necessary job functions
- must be able to stand and be mobile for up to 4 consecutive hours
- must be able to function in narrow spaces such as those found in kitchens and dining rooms
- must be able to lift and carry equipment/food up to 50 pounds
- must be able to push and pull carts, doors etc
- must be able to reach, bend, kneel, stoop and crouch
- must be able to climb and use ladders
- must be able to perform repetitive tasks
- must be able to effectively and safely operate a variety of kitchen equipment
- must be able to complete work duties in a variety of environmental conditions including coolers, freezers, kitchen environments and outdoors
- must be able to work with foods containing various food allergens
- must be able to communicate and interact politely and effectively with coworkers and guests
- must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- basic communication in the English language is necessary
- ability to communicate in Spanish a plus
- must be available to work weekends and holidays
- must be able to arrive for all assigned shifts on-time
- must be able to comply company appearance guidelines
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of culinary experience and/or culinary education preferred
- minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in a high-volume kitchen environment preferred
- must have or be able to obtain a State of Florida Food Safety Certificate
- must be well versed in food safety including proper holding temperatures, cooking temperatures, date marking procedures, cleaning and sanitizing procedures
Job Duties
- Collect food trays left in the outdoor guest seating area and properly clean them using dishwashing equipment
- set up and break down dishwashing station
- maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dishwashing area
- safely and properly operate and maintain dishwashing equipment
- document food safety and sanitation procedures through daily logs
- clean and sanitize kitchen areas and equipment
- remove garbage and recyclables from kitchen as necessary
- clean and sanitize garbage and recyclable containers
- clean and sanitize kitchen and restaurant floors and other surfaces
- complete all assigned opening and closing duties
- work closely with all other team members and display good teamwork
- follow the Disney 5-Keys Basics, Service Basics and Company Guidelines at all times
- perform all other tasks as assigned
