The role of a Steward in this dynamic setting is vital to the smooth operation of the restaurant’s daily functions. A Steward is chiefly responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the restaurant's tableware and cooking equipment, ensuring that all items meet rigorous food safety guidelines. This position requires proficiency in operating dishwashing equipment efficiently and safely, with the ability to maintain the dishwashing station from set up to break down. The Steward must work quickly to ensure a continuous supply of clean tableware and cookware, directly contributing to the guest dining experience.

Responsibilities include not only the cleaning of equipment and tableware but also maintaining kitchen areas, removing garbage and recyclables, and sanitizing various surfaces to uphold the highest sanitation standards. The position calls for meticulous documentation of food safety and sanitation procedures, adhering to all company policies and regulations, including the Disney 5-Keys Basics and Service Basics. Collaborative teamwork and adherence to the company’s guidelines are fundamental to the role, with additional assigned duties reflecting the flexibility and operational needs of the restaurant.

Applicants should expect to work in a fast-paced environment that often requires standing, mobility, and lifting up to 50 pounds. A minimum of one year of culinary experience or education is preferred, along with a high school diploma or equivalent, and ideally prior experience in high-volume kitchen environments. Food safety certification specific to the State of Florida is necessary or must be obtained shortly after hiring.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to perform all necessary job functions

  • must be able to complete work duties in a variety of environmental conditions including coolers, freezers, kitchen environments and outdoors

  • must be able to communicate and interact politely and effectively with coworkers and guests
  • must be available to work weekends and holidays
  • must be able to arrive on time for all assigned shifts
  • must be able to comply with company appearance guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of culinary experience and/or culinary education preferred
  • minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a high-volume kitchen environment preferred
  • must have or be able to obtain a State of Florida Food Safety Certificate
  • thorough knowledge of food safety including proper holding temperatures, cooking temperatures, date marking procedures, cleaning and sanitizing procedures
  • ability to operate dishwashing equipment efficiently
  • effective communication skills in English
  • ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • willingness to follow company guidelines and teamwork principles

Job Duties

  • Collect food trays left in the outdoor guest seating area and properly clean them using dishwashing equipment
  • set up and break down dishwashing station
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dishwashing area
  • safely and properly operate and maintain dishwashing equipment
  • document food safety and sanitation procedures through daily logs
  • clean and sanitize kitchen areas and equipment
  • remove garbage and recyclables from kitchen as necessary
  • clean and sanitize garbage and recyclable containers
  • clean and sanitize kitchen and restaurant floors and other surfaces
  • complete all assigned opening and closing duties
  • work closely with all other team members and display good teamwork
  • follow the Disney 5-Keys Basics, Service Basics and Company Guidelines at all times
  • perform additional tasks as assigned
