This position is for a Kitchen Steward within Azul Hospitality, primarily responsible for cleaning, transporting, and storing all pots, pans, silverware, glassware, and china used throughout the food and beverage operations of the resort. The role is essential for maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen and dining environment, thus supporting the preparation and delivery of exceptional culinary services. This full-time role requires individuals who are capable of operating commercial dishwashing machines, ensuring adherence to hygiene standards and safety protocols. The Kitchen Steward plays a vital part in the daily operations by assisting in food preparation, plating, and serving under the guidance of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef. Responsibilities also include maintaining cleanliness in food preparation areas and kitchen equipment and participating proactively in deep cleaning routines and safety maintenance.

The ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively within a team. Physical stamina is crucial, as the role involves standing for extended periods, working in temperature-controlled environments ranging from freezing to high heat, and performing tasks that require lifting and moving equipment. Job Requirements

  • High school or equivalent education
  • Prior hospitality or restaurant experience preferred
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures
  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs
  • Ability to push and pull equipment up to 250 lbs
  • Good communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Must speak, read, write, and understand the primary workplace language
  • Ability to maintain neat and well-groomed appearance
  • Compliance with attendance and safety policies

Job Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent education
  • Prior hospitality or restaurant experience preferred
  • Safe Server Alcohol and Food certification preferred
  • Good communication skills
  • Detail oriented with outstanding organizational skills
  • Basic computational ability
  • Self-driven and able to work independently
  • Knowledge of table and bar service

Job Duties

  • Clean and sanitize all china, glassware, silverware, flatware, pots, and pans in the resort
  • Operate commercial dishwashing machine and maintain a hygienic working environment
  • Ensure all food and beverage outlets have necessary items for opening shifts
  • Attend to spills and breakage immediately and follow safety procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchens and food preparation areas
  • Remove and dispose bags from trash receptacles
  • Participate in deep cleaning of the outlet
  • Report maintenance and hazard issues to supervisor
  • Assist service team to meet guest expectations
  • Assist in receiving and storing orders adhering to health standards
  • Assist with prepping, plating, and serving food as requested
  • Perform additional duties assigned by managers and supervisors
