The Steward position plays a crucial role in maintaining high cleanliness and sanitation standards in the hotel’s kitchen and dining areas. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing dishes, glassware, silverware, and kitchen equipment using specialized machinery and techniques to uphold health and safety standards. The Steward also ensures the kitchen environment remains spotless by cleaning ovens, mixers, sinks, floors, and walls regularly. Maintaining the correct use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment is essential for this role, as is the ability to work on weekends, nights, and holidays to accommodate hotel operations. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in stewarding or relevant hospitality cleaning role preferred
- Ability to operate and maintain cleaning equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, nights and holidays
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience in stewarding
- Working knowledge of operating, maintaining and cleaning dishwashing machine, sinks, floor cleaning equipment and silver burnisher
- Proficiency in reading, writing and oral English
- Passion for hospitality and detail-oriented nature
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Job Duties
- Clean and sanitize china, glass, and silver using the dishwashing machine, load and unload dishware and flatware from dishwashing machine and store properly
- Clean and sanitize all ovens, steam kettles, mixers and other kitchen equipment as well as all kitchen drains, sinks, floors, and walls
- Clean, dust, sweep, mop, polish, scrub, wash, strip and buff kitchen and pastry shop production areas and hallways
- Clean and sanitize all pots, pans, and kitchen utensils using the correct cleaning and rinsing solutions
- Safely utilize and store all cleaning compounds, chemicals, and materials including soaking solution utilizing the correct protective clothing
- Ability to work weekends, nights and holidays
