Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
In lieu of GED, must have a minimum 2 years related experience and demonstrate the skills listed under Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to withstand sudden temperature changes from heat of kitchen to cold of the freezers
Ability to read, write and understand English
Basic math and computer skills are necessary
Must be capable of using a computer, including basic software programs and Microsoft Outlook
Ability to identify chemicals and proper use of equipment
Ability to follow infection control policies and procedures
Ability to follow all Food and Nutrition Services policies and procedures (ISDH, JCAHO)
Knowledge of safe food handling practices
Ability to use age appropriate communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively in a professional, courteous manner with food service staff and other hospital staff

Job Duties

Maintains the overall cleanliness and organization of the dish area by washing, sanitizing, organizing, and putting away dishes and kitchen equipment
Stocks all assigned areas with service equipment including kitchenware, utensils, dishes and glassware
Maintains sanitation and cleanliness of the walk in cooler, freezer, dry stock and storage rooms, walls, floors, racks and bins
Empties trash throughout assigned work area as needed
Identifies and safely uses chemical cleaning agents stocked for various pieces of service equipment, table tops, floors, and dish machine
Upholds a professional attitude and embodies excellent customer service when interacting with guests, visitors, patients, and other employees
Assists with stocking food and/or delivery items in accordance with first-in first-out (FIFO) rotation system
