Job Description

The hiring establishment is a reputable hotel that prides itself on delivering exceptional hospitality services and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. As a prominent player in the hospitality industry, this hotel offers a dynamic and supportive work environment where employees are valued and encouraged to grow professionally. The hotel is committed to upholding brand standards that enhance the guest experience, making it a preferred choice among travelers seeking comfort and quality. This commitment extends to every department, including Food and Beverage, where meticulous attention to cleanliness and organization ensures smooth operations and safety for guests and staff alike.

The role of Steward is crucial within the hotel's operational structure, specifically within the Food and Beverage and kitchen areas. As a Steward, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and proper storage of all china, glassware, and silverware, ensuring that all items are sanitary and meet the highest quality standards. This position requires a keen eye for detail and a dedication to sanitation practices, as these directly affect the overall guest experience and kitchen efficiency.

In addition to cleaning and storing dining items, the Steward works closely with the kitchen staff to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and all storage areas. This includes cleaning pots, pans, utensils, and workspaces, ensuring an uncluttered and sanitary environment conducive to safe food handling. Proper food storage and rotation practices are part of the Steward's responsibilities to help reduce waste and maintain food safety standards.

Stewards perform essential duties such as operating dishwashing equipment, sweeping and mopping kitchen and restaurant floors, and managing waste disposal. Their role extends to maintaining the cleanliness of peripheral areas such as the back dock and dumpster zones, contributing to an overall clean and organized hotel environment. Safety is a paramount concern, and Stewards must be familiar with the location and use of fire extinguishing equipment and adhere strictly to safe work habits to protect themselves and others.

The Steward position is not only about cleaning tasks but also embodies a spirit of hospitality. The Steward is expected to be attentive, friendly, and courteous to guests, managers, and fellow employees at all times. This role supports the Food and Beverage department's operational needs by assisting with buffet setup and breakdowns, supplying necessary dining items for banquet events, and participating in staff meetings as required. Although no prior experience is mandatory, a high school diploma or GED is preferred, reflecting the hotel's commitment to a well-rounded workforce that values education and service-oriented attitudes.

Physical requirements for this role include the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for long periods, and perform tasks that require agility and coordination. The Steward must be capable of understanding and following detailed instructions while maintaining a high level of personal grooming and adherence to uniform standards set by the hotel.

Overall, the Steward position offers a vital opportunity to contribute to the hotel's exceptional service standards and operational excellence. Working in this role provides valuable experience in the hospitality industry, fostering skills in sanitation, teamwork, and guest service that can lead to career advancement within the hotel and beyond.
