About the Steward / Dishwasher Role: HHM Hotels is currently seeking dedicated individuals for the position of Steward / Dishwasher. This essential hospitality role focuses on maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards within the kitchen and dining areas, ensuring a smooth culinary operation. The Steward / Dishwasher is responsible for washing dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using dishwashing equipment and other kitchen cleaning tools. Additionally, this role requires placing clean items in their respective storage locations to facilitate easy access for kitchen staff and servers.

In this role, personnel will maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in an orderly and hygienic condition. As part of the operational flow, they will stock supplies in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars in preparation for meal service. Additional responsibilities include sweeping and washing floors, cleaning trash cans, sorting and disposing of trash in designated pickup areas, and supporting kitchen food preparation during busy periods or staffing shortages.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous stewarding experience required or equivalent training
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work varying schedules including holidays and weekends
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and wear protective equipment
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous stewarding experience required or equivalent training
  • Ability to operate dishwashing and kitchen cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of kitchen sanitation and safety standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans

  • Sweep and wash floors and clean trash cans
  • Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas
  • Perform food preparation functions during staffing shortages or peak periods
  • Practice safe work habits and follow MSDS and OSHA standards
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
