Job Description

The role of a Steward or Dishwasher at HHM Hotels is essential in maintaining cleanliness and efficiency in the kitchen and back-of-house areas. This position is compensated at $18.00 per hour and offers a growth path leading to roles such as Cook, Stewarding Supervisor, Executive Steward, or Sous Chef. As a Steward, your focus will be to wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans while efficiently operating dishwashing and other kitchen cleaning equipment. You will be responsible for maintaining orderly storage of clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment. In addition, you will keep kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils clean, orderly, and ready for use.
This role also includes stocking supplies such as food or utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars, sweeping and washing floors, and cleaning trash cans. Sorting and removing trash properly to designated pickup areas is a key responsibility. The Steward may also be called upon to assist with food preparation when staffing shortages occur or during busy periods. HHM Hotels emphasizes guest satisfaction, so you will be expected to contribute positively toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction scores. Practicing safe work habits by wearing protective safety equipment and following MSDS and OSHA standards is mandatory. Other duties may be assigned by management, ensuring dynamic and varied responsibilities each day.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent preferred, along with previous stewarding experience or equivalent training.
