The opportunity to join the hospitality team as a Steward/Dishwasher offers an essential role in maintaining kitchen cleanliness and supporting food service operations. The Steward/Dishwasher role is pivotal for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen utensils, dishware, pots, pans, and glassware, which directly impacts the efficiency and hygiene of food service operations. This position requires hands-on operation of dishwashing machines and other cleaning equipment to ensure all kitchen work areas remain in pristine condition. Responsibilities also extend to stock management, where the individual replenishes supplies in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars. Additionally, custodial duties like sweeping, washing floors, and managing waste removal maintain a safe and orderly kitchen environment.
In situations where the kitchen faces staffing shortages or there are peak service demands, the Steward/Dishwasher will assist in basic food preparation, enhancing the overall team’s flexibility and responsiveness. The role demands an awareness of guest satisfaction metrics, underscoring the importance of contributing positively to both departmental and overall guest experiences. Adhering to strict safety protocols by wearing protective gear and following OSHA standards is mandatory, ensuring a safe working environment for all.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous stewarding experience required or equivalent training
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Availability to work holidays and weekends
- Familiarity with OSHA and MSDS safety standards

Job Duties
- Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans
- Operate dishwashing and other kitchen cleaning equipment
- Place clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas
- Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly condition
- Stock supplies, such as food or utensils, in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars
- Sweep and wash floors and clean trash cans
- Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas
- Perform food preparation functions in the event of staffing shortages or during peak periods
- Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction
- Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM’s EarthView program
- Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards
- Perform other duties as requested by management
