The role offered is a full-time, non-management position at Marriott's location at 1201 Market St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, within the Food and Beverage and Culinary sector. This role primarily involves operating and maintaining cleaning equipment and tools, including dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors, crucial to upholding the cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and store areas. Key responsibilities include washing and disinfecting kitchen equipment, tools, knives, tables, and storage rooms to ensure sanitary conditions are met. The role demands rigorous inspection and handling of both clean and soiled kitchen items to maintain quality standards, including rewashing when necessary. Additional tasks include sorting and cleaning silverware, managing trash and recyclables by maintaining dumpsters and proper waste removal, as well as cleaning and mopping assigned department areas. The role also involves physical tasks such as lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, and repetitive motion duties like standing, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
This position requires adherence to all company safety and security policies, including reporting maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions, and completing required safety training and certifications. Communication skills are vital for interacting professionally with coworkers and supporting team objectives. Job Duties
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools including dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors
- wash and disinfect kitchen and storeroom areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment
- receive deliveries and properly store perishables while rotating stock
- use detergent and sanitizing chemicals in the three-compartment sink for dishwashing
- inspect, pull, and stack cleaned items and rewash soiled items
- rack and spray items with hot water to loosen food residue
- sort, soak, and wash or rewash silverware
- breakdown dirty bus tubs
- empty and maintain trashcans and dumpster area
- clean and mop all assigned departmental areas
- dispose of glass and manage recyclables including cardboard boxes
- follow company safety and security policies and report maintenance needs and unsafe conditions
- move and lift objects up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, bending, twisting, and stooping
- perform other reasonable duties as requested by supervisors
