The Kimpton Palladian Hotel, a distinguished 97-room landmark located at the junction of Belltown and Seattle's retail core, embodies Highgate's commitment to distinctive hospitality. Within this dynamic environment, the Steward/Potwasher/Warehouse role is pivotal in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation. This hourly position entails responsible handling of all china, glass, silverware, kitchen equipment, and storage areas, ensuring operational excellence in the culinary and foodservice spaces. The ideal candidate will uphold rigorous hygiene standards, execute heavy-duty cleaning tasks, manage waste disposal properly, and support kitchen staff in maintaining organization and proper food storage. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in hotel or related field preferred
  • Ability to stand for entire shift
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and push, pull or carry up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Flexibility to work long hours
  • Ability to withstand temperature variations both hot and cold
  • Warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Willingness to cross-train in other hotel related areas
  • Attendance at required meetings and trainings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred
  • Knowledge of proper safe handling techniques for all chemicals used
  • Ability to follow sanitation standards and procedures
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness standards
  • Strong communication skills to interact with management and team members
  • Ability to work flexible and long hours when required

Job Duties

  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and orderliness in all kitchens, back dock, dumpster and utility work areas
  • Heavy duty cleaning of ovens, grills, sinks, walls, floors, walk-in refrigerators and freezers and other heavy kitchen equipment
  • Wash pots, pans, and kitchen utensils following proper procedure for their cleanliness and sanitation, and vacuum carpeted areas through the food and beverage outlets
  • Sweep, mop and wash floors in all food and beverage areas, kitchen, and restaurant and dock area
  • Keep management informed of shortage of equipment and supplies
  • Operate the dishwashing equipment to ensure that all china, glass, and silver are cleaned thoroughly and sanitation of such is maintained
  • Return all clean china, glass, and silver to its proper storage location using care to minimize breakage
