The role of Steward at Sodexo, based at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, is a vital part-time position with a pay rate of $16 per hour. Stewards support food service operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized back-of-house environment to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery. This position involves critical tasks such as sanitation, warewashing, equipment care, and overall cleanliness of kitchen and service support areas. Stewards work under the direction of a Steward Supervisor or culinary leadership team, adapting to daily operational needs and event-driven service demands. They participate in opening and closing sanitation procedures and assist in organizing equipment, supplies, and service ware properly. Additionally, stewards handle waste management, recycling, and grease removal according to established protocols to comply with health and safety regulations. Physical requirements include frequent lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 35 pounds and occasional lifting of objects up to 40 pounds. Job Duties
- Support opening and closing sanitation procedures for food service areas
- Assist with organization and proper storage of equipment, supplies, and service ware
- Handle waste, recycling, and grease removal in accordance with established procedures
- Maintain floors, drains, and work surfaces to meet cleanliness and safety standards
- Frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds
- Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
- Perform other duties as assigned depending on business necessities and client requirements
