Your primary responsibilities will include cleaning kitchen equipment, dishware, glassware, cookware, and silverware either manually or with the assistance of dishwashing machines. Additionally, you will be tasked with monitoring the proper disposal and organization of kitchen garbage, ensuring all waste is placed in designated areas efficiently and hygienically.
The role of Steward requires more than just attention to detail; it demands physical stamina and strength. You must be capable of lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and be comfortable standing, sitting, or walking for long periods. Your ability to contribute to a well-functioning kitchen team extends to assisting in transferring supplies and equipment, organizing clean items, managing stock rotation, and polishing silverware to uphold the high presentation standards expected by our clientele.
Beyond routine cleaning, the Steward position involves operating and maintaining various kitchen cleaning machines and tools such as dishwashing machines, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. You will ensure that the kitchen area itself, including surfaces, tables, knives, and other utensils, are cleaned and disinfected regularly. The role also includes responsibilities such as properly using detergents and sanitizers in the designated sinks, inspecting cleaned items for quality, and re-washing dishes as necessary.
Additionally, as a Steward, you are expected to be vigilant in sorting recyclables and managing waste disposal through proper channels. Maintaining a positive working relationship with team members and adhering to company policies, including quality assurance standards and emergency procedures, form an essential part of your duties. This position requires strict adherence to safety protocols, appearance guidelines, and confidentiality of company information.

Job Duties
- operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools including the dish washing machine hand wash stations pot-scrubbing station and trash compactor
- wash and disinfect kitchen area tables tools knives and equipment
- ensure clean wares are stored in appropriate areas
- use detergent rinsing and sanitizing chemicals in the 3-compartment sink to clean dishes
- inspect pull and stack cleaned items send soiled items back for re-scrubbing and re-washing
- rack and spray all racked items with hot water to loosen and remove food residue
- sort soak and wash re-wash silverware
- breakdown dirty bus tubs
- empty and maintain trashcans and dumpster area
- clean and mop all areas in assigned departments
- dispose of glass in the proper containers
- break down cardboard boxes and place them and other recyclables in the recycle bin
- develop and maintain positive working relationships
- comply with quality assurance standards
- follow company and department policies and procedures
- report accidents injuries and unsafe work conditions to manager
- ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
- wear nametag
- maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
- protect company assets
- follow property specific procedures for handling emergency situations
- stand sit or walk for an extended period of time
- move lift carry push pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance
- have access to reliable transportation and follow attendance policy
- respond to any reasonable task assigned by executive steward or executive chef
- assist in other areas of the kitchen as needed
- notify loss prevention security of any reports of theft
- all other duties as assigned
