Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of basic kitchen safety, food safety, and sanitation procedures is preferred
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to operate dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of safe chemical handling and sanitation protocols
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive motions including bending, lifting, and reaching
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in hot and humid environments near cooking equipment
  • Ability to work in wet conditions with exposure to water and cleaning chemicals
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Job Duties

  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and glassware ensuring cleanliness to the highest standard
  • Operate dishwashing equipment and sanitize all kitchenware
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, work areas, and surfaces following health and safety guidelines
  • Maintain organization in the dishwashing area and store clean items appropriately
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of kitchen storage areas including dry storage, walk-ins, and refrigerators
  • Organize and label cleaning supplies and chemicals for proper use
  • Stock and organize supplies in storage areas and kitchens for efficiency
  • Help set up and break down kitchen areas during meal shifts
  • Collect and dispose of trash, food scraps, and waste according to policies and health regulations
  • Separate and dispose of trash and recycling correctly
  • Clean and maintain waste storage areas
  • Assist kitchen staff with ingredient prep, supply refilling, and mise en place
  • Ensure kitchen staff have clean, sanitized tools and equipment
  • Properly store food items ensuring correct labeling and conditions
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Monitor cleanliness and maintenance of waste disposal areas
  • Report safety issues and equipment malfunctions to supervisors
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff and chefs for smooth operations
  • Communicate effectively to ensure efficient cleaning duties
  • Provide support during busy periods and special events
