Job Description

The Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel, located at 1 W Wacker Dr, Chicago, Illinois, is a distinguished establishment within the hospitality industry, operating under the prestigious Marriott International portfolio. This hotel is renowned for delivering exceptional experiences to guests through its commitment to excellence, cultural immersion, and personalized service. As part of the Renaissance Hotels brand, the Chicago Downtown location embodies the spirit of its neighborhood, inviting guests to discover new cultures and create memorable stories during their stay. The hotel caters to both business and leisure travelers, offering a dynamic and sophisticated environment designed to meet diverse needs. Within this vibrant setting, the hotel is currently seeking dedicated and customer-focused individuals to join its food and beverage team as servers.

This full-time, non-management Server role is essential to maintaining the high service standards expected at the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel. The position primarily involves serving food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests while ensuring exceptional hospitality throughout their dining experience. Servers are responsible for various critical tasks, including setting tables according to the event type and establishing service standards, answering guest inquiries regarding menu selections, and coordinating effectively with kitchen staff to manage special requests, dietary needs, and menu availability. Using the MICROS system, servers accurately record transactions and handle payment processing with professionalism. A key part of the role is to routinely check in with guests to confirm satisfaction at every stage of their meal and to promptly address any concerns.

The position requires physical stamina, as it involves standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods and handling objects of varying weights, sometimes requiring assistance. Safety and adherence to company policies are paramount, with responsibilities extending to maintaining cleanliness in work areas and completing closing duties. The Server at the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel must also exemplify professional appearance and conduct, maintain confidentiality, and actively contribute to a supportive team environment. The role offers an hourly wage of $12.93, is tip-eligible, with potential pay rates up to $19.40 during flexible training or paid time off. Evening shift availability is preferred, and server experience is advantageous but not mandatory.

Joining this team means becoming part of a globally recognized brand that prizes equality, diversity, and inclusivity. Marriott International and Renaissance Hotels emphasize a culture where unique backgrounds and experiences are valued and where associates are empowered to grow in their careers while enjoying a comprehensive benefits package. The establishment encourages individuals who are eager to provide exceptional guest service and encapsulate the spirit of exploration and discovery that defines the Renaissance brand. If you are passionate about hospitality, attentive to detail, and enthusiastic about creating memorable guest experiences, this opportunity stands as an excellent fit for your career aspirations within the vibrant landscape of downtown Chicago's hospitality scene.
