Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- three years of experience cooking in a full-service or institutional kitchen
- ServSafe Food Handler Training Certificate or another ANSI-accredited food handler certificate within 30 days of hire
- ability to stand for long periods and frequently walk, handle objects, reach, talk, or hear
- occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift, and/or move up to 50 lbs
- ability to work in a kitchen environment with moderate noise and occasional exposure to extreme heat or caustic chemicals
- adjust to day, evening, and weekend schedules as needed
- comply with all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- three years of experience cooking in a full-service or institutional kitchen
- ServSafe Food Handler Training Certificate or another ANSI-accredited food handler certificate obtained within 30 days of hire
- ability to follow food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures consistently
- strong communication skills for interaction with patients, families, and coworkers
- ability to mentor and guide culinary apprentices
- ability to collaborate on recipe development and menu planning
Job Duties
- Prepare rotating menu items and properly garnish all offerings at the Plate by Plate station
- work additional stations as needed
- assist the Executive Chef and Sous Chef in developing recipes for station rotation menus
- collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to procure new food items for menus
- participate in concept development for weekly rotations, holidays, and special events
- serve as a resource and mentor for St. Jude Culinary Apprentices
- present food using proper techniques and maintain high standards of quality and consistency
