Known widely for significant cultural events such as the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks and the Thanksgiving Day Parade, Macy's has cemented its place in American hearts and minds by celebrating memorable moments and milestones for countless customers and colleagues alike. The company prides itself on creating an inclusive atmosphere where employees feel valued as part of this remarkable legacy.
This role is for a Lead Barista position within Macy’s Starbucks operation. The Lead Barista plays a critical role in supporting the Starbucks Manager to maintain an efficient, professional, safe, and profitable Starbucks store environment. This involves upholding all company standards to ensure customers receive high-quality beverage and food products alongside exceptional customer service. In this leadership capacity, the Lead Barista provides guidance and motivation for the barista team throughout shifts, ensuring compliance with Starbucks Food Division Standards and Best Practices. Responsibilities extend to overseeing beverage preparation, merchandise presentation, monitoring speed of service, and ensuring food and beverage quality using standardized checklists.
The Lead Barista is also instrumental in fostering a welcoming environment that promotes respect, teamwork, and authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and the larger community. Beyond daily operational duties, the position emphasizes development through training, coaching, and performance management to boost team satisfaction and productivity. Emphasis on grooming, professional communication, and workplace safety standards ensures the setting consistently meets health department and company policy requirements. Financial acumen is essential, as the Lead Barista aids in managing budgets by analyzing sales reports, food costs, and payroll to meet profitability goals. The role includes logistical support in ordering, inventory management, and production preparation, facilitating smooth store operations.
Working at Macy's Starbucks offers more than just a job. Employees can expect a dynamic and inclusive workplace culture that balances fun with rewarding experiences. Benefits and compensations include competitive pay, comprehensive health and wellness plans, 401(k) retirement savings with company matching, paid time off, and recognized holidays. Macy’s invests in employee growth with continuous learning and leadership development programs while promoting community engagement through colleague resource groups and volunteer opportunities. Additional perks such as merchandise discounts, performance-based incentives, an annual merit review, and access to mental health counseling and financial/legal advice via the Employee Assistance Program round out a comprehensive employee package.
