Job Description

The Exchange is a leading retail and service provider operating on military bases, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for service members and their families. As a part of the Department of Defense (DoD) community, the Exchange combines a commitment to customer service with a strong sense of camaraderie and community support. Known for its diverse range of products and services, the Exchange serves as an essential hub where military personnel and their families can shop, dine, and relax. It offers a unique workplace environment enriched by the values of teamwork, respect, and service to those who serve the nation.

As a Barista at the Exchange's Starbucks locations, you will be at the heart of creating an inviting and welcoming atmosphere on the base. This role is not just about making high-quality handcrafted coffee beverages; it's about connecting with customers and contributing to the vibrant community life that the Exchange fosters. Working in a fast-paced, dynamic setting, you will have the opportunity to showcase your personality while delivering excellent customer service. You will be responsible for greeting customers warmly, taking their orders with care, and ensuring each beverage is prepared to perfection. Your efforts will directly impact the customer experience by making every visit to Starbucks memorable and enjoyable.

The position offers flexible scheduling options to accommodate a variety of lifestyles and commitments, making it easier to balance work and personal life. In addition to a competitive hourly wage, the benefits package provided by the Exchange is comprehensive and includes medical, dental, life, and disability insurance. You will also enjoy paid time off, shift differential and holiday pay, and access to a traditional pension plan as well as a 401K retirement savings plan for qualifying employees. Furthermore, employees gain exclusive access to the base facilities, participation in the Mass Transit program, and the pride of being a DoD employee.

As a Food Service Worker at Starbucks on the Exchange, your key responsibilities will involve customer engagement and operational support. You will greet every customer with eye contact and a genuine smile, acknowledge waiting customers promptly to ensure they feel valued, listen attentively to customer preferences, and offer suitable product recommendations. You will handle transactions accurately and efficiently while maintaining friendly and engaging conversations to enhance the customer’s experience. Your role is central to maintaining the welcoming atmosphere that keeps customers coming back.

Working at the Exchange means joining a team that prioritizes your growth and development. The company is committed to providing the tools and resources necessary for your success and encourages cross-training opportunities to broaden your skills. This is a chance to be part of something greater, where your contribution is recognized and celebrated as part of a trusted community service. Joining the Exchange is more than just a job; it is a pathway to a rewarding career where you can thrive personally and professionally.
