Job Description

Brookshire Grocery Company (BGC) is a well-established retail grocery company headquartered in Tyler, Texas. BGC operates more than 215 stores under five distinct banners: Brookshire's Grocery Company, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market, Fresh by Brookshire's, and Reasor's, serving communities across Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. With a strong commitment to community building and employee growth, BGC fosters an inclusive and supportive work environment that values every team member's contributions. The company emphasizes wellness, flexibility, ownership, savings, educational support, and adventure opportunities as part of its comprehensive benefits package, aiming to create a workplace where employees can thrive both personally and professionally.

The Coffee Barista role at Brookshire Grocery Company is central to delivering an exceptional customer experience through the preparation, brewing, and serving of coffee and related beverages. This position requires a dedication to quality control and food safety standards, as well as the ability to maintain product freshness by monitoring stock levels, dates, appearance, and proper storage temperatures. The barista is expected to engage customers positively by greeting them warmly, answering their questions, and taking orders both in person and by phone, thereby promoting product sales through suggestive selling initiatives.

In this role, employees will be trained to prepare a variety of hot and cold beverages including coffee, espresso drinks, and teas, consistently following established recipes and preparation techniques to ensure product quality. The environment involves maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary work and shopping conditions while adhering to company safety procedures. The role also encompasses handling and organizing product stock efficiently, stacking pallets, and sorting items in line with company standards to optimize store operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience operating digital and manual equipment such as espresso machines, coffee grinders, and commercial ovens, and must demonstrate the ability to safely handle hazardous tools and equipment. Strong teamwork, communication skills, and a flexible schedule including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays are essential. Attention to safety is critical, with a responsibility to promptly address or report potential hazards.

This opportunity is suited to individuals who are at least 18 years old, with a minimum of six months related experience or equivalent education, who have obtained a Food Handler certification and completed Starbucks Barista Basics Training. This role typically involves on-the-job training, allowing candidates to develop their skills effectively while contributing to BGC's commitment to exceptional customer service. Physically, the position requires the ability to stand or walk for extended periods, perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, and occasionally lift objects up to 75 pounds. The work setting is generally a retail store environment exposed to varying temperatures and noise levels.
