Job Description
The Army and Air Force Exchange Service, commonly known as "the Exchange," is a prominent retail enterprise operating on U.S. Army and Air Force installations worldwide. With a multi-billion-dollar revenue, the Exchange stands as one of the top retailers serving the military community by operating department stores, convenience stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and an online shopping site. They are committed to providing Soldiers, Airmen, and their families with access to quality U.S. goods and services regardless of where they serve, from domestic bases to overseas locations including Germany, Italy, England, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, and even theaters such as Iraq and Afghanistan.
The role of a Barista within the Exchange, particularly at the Clear Creek Food Court Starbucks, offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that is dedicated to creating an inviting, community-centered environment on military bases. This position is integral to serving the military community by preparing hand-crafted, quality beverages that exceed customer expectations. Working in a fast-paced, enjoyable atmosphere, the Barista will have ample opportunities to showcase their personality and develop meaningful connections with customers, making every visit to Starbucks not just a purchase but a positive, memorable experience.
Emphasizing a commitment to both customers and staff, the Exchange fosters an environment focused on growth and development. Employees are not only provided with comprehensive benefits including flexible scheduling, medical, dental, life and disability insurance, paid time off, shift differentials, holiday pay, and retirement plans such as pension and 401K (where eligible), but also gain access to base facilities and transportation programs. Moreover, as a Department of Defense employee, Baristas enjoy a sense of pride and community beyond that of typical civilian retail roles.
Baristas at the Exchange are expected to greet every customer warmly with eye contact and a smile, promptly acknowledge those waiting in line, and attentively listen to customer needs to recommend appropriate products. Accuracy and efficiency in handling transactions, combined with friendly conversation, help ensure an extraordinary shopping experience. The ability to think quickly, take initiative, adapt to current technology, and share brand knowledge are important to excelling in this role.
This position requires lifting up to 45 pounds occasionally, a welcoming attitude towards both customers and coworkers, and a willingness to cross-train and assist in various store areas as needed. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and preferably have experience in the fast food industry. The shift hours typically range from early morning (0630) to early afternoon (1300), and candidates must be available to work weekdays, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
With a salary range from $18.04 to $21.05 per hour, this is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality and serving the military community to join a reputable, supportive organization dedicated to their personal and professional growth. The position does not include supervisory duties, allowing the Barista to focus fully on customer engagement and service excellence. If you are looking to be part of a team that values your contribution and supports your development, working as a Barista at the Exchange's Starbucks is a rewarding choice.
