Job Description

Owens Corning is a renowned leader in the building products industry, widely recognized for its innovation and excellence in providing roofing, insulation, and door products primarily for residential markets in North America and Europe. Founded in 1938 and headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, the company has established a powerful reputation with its iconic brand and unique set of OC Advantages™—leveraging its commercial strength, cutting-edge technology, and cost efficiency. Owens Corning adopts an integrated go-to-market strategy that empowers its customers to succeed and expand their presence in the marketplace. The company fosters winning partnerships, delivers exceptional performance, and engages people, all contributing to its lasting impact on the building products sector. As a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol OC, Owens Corning remains committed to fostering an inclusive and safe work environment while promoting sustainability and corporate responsibility.

The role of Spray Paint Operator at Owens Corning plays a critical part in the production of high-quality door components. This position involves expertly operating spray-painting systems or other specialized equipment to apply industrial paint finishes to materials such as metal, fiberglass, wood, or vinyl door components. The operator is responsible for mixing paints and related solutions accurately, monitoring the drying processes to ensure the desired finish quality, and applying finishing touches that may include baking, polishing, or the application of protective coatings. Key to this role is the ability to set up and maintain production lines efficiently for door spraying activities.

As a Spray Paint Operator, you will work within a fast-paced production shop environment, performing prep work such as cleaning doors, removing dust, and preparing surfaces for staining or priming. This role also involves technical skills such as reading and interpreting paint mixing procedures and maintaining spray equipment routinely. Employees are expected to perform preventative maintenance on paint guns and booths, ensuring operational reliability and safety compliance. Because the job typically requires working under immediate supervision, operators are guided by detailed instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions accurately and safely.

In addition to painting duties, operators assist with other production-related manual labor tasks, maintain safe work practices, and help keep the production area tidy through housekeeping and warehouse cleanup activities. The nature of the job demands physical endurance, including standing or working for 8 to 10 hours per day, lifting materials weighing over 50 pounds, and handling tools and equipment skillfully. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, able to multi-task, and capable of maintaining detailed records while meeting the quality standards and production schedules expected at Owens Corning.

This full-time position offers an hourly pay rate starting at $20.00, with potential increases depending on skill level and experience. Additionally, the position comes with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, and accidental insurance coverage; paid parental leave and adoption benefits; paid holidays; a 401(k) plan with company match; and educational assistance programs. Owens Corning is proud to promote from within and offers advancement opportunities to its employees, supporting career growth in a reputable and stable company environment.

Joining Owens Corning means becoming part of a legacy dedicated to innovation, quality, and teamwork. This role is suitable for individuals seeking to grow their skills in industrial painting and manufacturing, working in a safety-conscious and supportive environment where their contributions help create products that improve homes and communities.

Owens Corning’s commitment to equality and fair employment practices means they provide opportunities without discrimination and uphold age restrictions to safeguard employees. If you have a background in manufacturing or warehousing, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under supervision while maintaining safety and quality, the Spray Paint Operator position at Owens Corning could be your next career step.
