The role of Staffing Specialist (Recruiter) at The Arc Erie County NY is a full-time position that plays a critical role within the Human Resources department. Working Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, this position offers an hourly wage between $21.00 and $24.00, depending on experience. The Staffing Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring qualified candidates to maintain appropriate staffing levels throughout the agency's various departments. This role requires close collaboration with hiring managers and various management teams to understand staffing needs, develop recruitment strategies, conduct behavioral interviews, and manage applicant tracking efficiently.
The Staffing Specialist must be knowledgeable about a wide range of positions within the agency and proficient in modern recruitment techniques and HR practices. The specialist also ensures compliance with federal and state employment laws, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) guidelines, and agency policies. Additionally, the Staffing Specialist participates in hiring events and career fairs to promote the organization's presence within the community, enhancing candidate engagement and awareness. This position demands excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong ability to foster relationships across multiple departments and external organizations such as colleges and professional networks.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- minimum of two years of interviewing experience
- strong knowledge of HR practices and procedures
- familiarity with federal and state employment laws
- excellent oral and written communication skills
- ability to maintain confidentiality
- proficient in office equipment and software including MS Word
- ability to follow complex instructions and meet deadlines
- demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills
- dependable and professional demeanor
- willingness to adapt to changing work environment
- prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in the Human Resource field with one year demonstrated recruitment/staffing and interviewing/hiring experience
- associate’s degree plus four years of experience in the Human Resource field with one year demonstrated interviewing/hiring experience
- equivalent combination of education and experience plus two years required interviewing experience
- excellent oral and written communication skills
- ability to provide vision and leadership
- detail oriented, logical, and methodological problem-solving skills
- good organizational skills and demonstrated self-initiative
- working knowledge of MS Word
- experience with applicant tracking and HRIS systems is preferred
- ability to work independently and with others
- prior experience or knowledge of services for individuals with IDD preferred
Job Duties
- Sourcing and recruiting qualified candidates for diverse roles
- using a variety of methods to find candidates, including job boards, internal databases, and professional networks
- reviewing applications, filtering out unqualified candidates, and coordinating the interview process
- providing knowledge of current hiring trends and the unique dynamics of the nonprofit job market
- attending hiring events to attract candidates and raise awareness of agency within the community
- establishing and maintaining relationships with hiring managers to stay abreast of current and future hiring needs
- developing recruitment strategies to achieve and maintain required staffing levels
