Job Description
Four Seasons is renowned globally as a leader in luxury hospitality, celebrated for its commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences through a harmonious blend of genuine heart and impeccable service. Rooted in the belief that life is richer when truly connected to people and the world around us, Four Seasons fosters a culture where employees are empowered to excel and grow. The brand's foundation lies in treating everyone—guests, partners, and team members alike—with respect and kindness, embodying a world-class employee experience that drives their unmatched service standards.
This particular opportunity is based at a prestigious Four Seasons property located in Manhattan, New York City, situated on the illustrious "Billionaires' Row" between Park Avenue and Madison Avenue. This modern-deco hotel, a landmark designed by the esteemed architect I.M. Pei, offers guests breathtaking views of Central Park and premium access to exclusive shopping destinations. Known for its sun-filled suites and serene ambiance high above the vibrant city, the Manhattan Four Seasons represents an unparalleled setting for luxury hospitality and service excellence.
The role of Staff Accountant is a pivotal position within the Finance Department of this iconic hotel. The Staff Accountant works under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Finance and plays an integral role in maintaining the general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable, and general cashiering processes. Beyond standard accounting responsibilities, this role involves supervisory duties, ensuring the accurate and timely execution of financial processes while adhering to local and corporate policies. The Staff Accountant contributes to safeguarding the hotel’s assets through the enforcement and support of effective internal controls.
The position requires a working knowledge of accounting principles and standards such as USALI (Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry) and involves the participation in month-end closing processes, financial statement preparation, accruals, and journal entries. The Staff Accountant is also expected to coordinate reconciliations of balance sheet and bank accounts and support other managers with matters involving labor standards and payroll issues.
Qualifications for the role include a college degree and progressive experience in accounting management, ideally within a hotel environment. Candidates with payroll experience and knowledge of labor laws command an advantage. The role demands advanced computer literacy, especially proficiency with Excel, and familiarity with accounting software systems such as Sun, Opera, and BirchStreet Systems is highly preferred. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary to prepare reports, deliver presentations, and facilitate stakeholder meetings.
This full-time, on-site position offers a competitive salary ranging between $90,000 and $95,000 annually, complemented by an attractive comprehensive benefits package. The benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plans, paid holidays, vacation, sick days, and complimentary accommodations at Four Seasons properties worldwide. Employees also enjoy complimentary meals and access to specially discounted culinary, retail, and wellness experiences. Candidates must possess valid work authorization for employment in the United States.
The Four Seasons encourages applications from minorities, women, veterans, and individuals with disabilities, reinforcing its commitment as an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer. This role is not just a job but a chance to join a prestigious brand that is synonymous with luxury and excellence, where one's professional growth is nurtured, and contributions are recognized. If you are passionate about accounting within a luxury hospitality context and ready to embrace a dynamic role that blends operational leadership and financial expertise, this Staff Accountant position at Four Seasons Manhattan represents a compelling career opportunity.
