Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of sterile processing experience
  • Sterile Processing certification: CRCST or CSPDT
  • Demonstrated skills to safely perform assigned duties
  • Proficiency in English communication
  • Ability to wear appropriate protective attire
  • Strong team player and customer service focus
  • Basic computer skills
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking ability
  • Proper phone etiquette

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Two years of sterile processing experience
  • Sterile Processing certification such as CRCST or CSPDT
  • Demonstrated proficiency in sterilization techniques and surgical instrument handling
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and universal precautions
  • Competency in basic computer programs including Microsoft Office
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching staff
  • Ability to maintain consistent workflow under pressure

Job Duties

  • Maintain high standards for decontamination, assembly, inspecting, wrapping, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment
  • Work in conjunction with Operating Room staff to provide timely sterile products, trays, and case carts
  • Maintain consistent and continuous workflow between OR and Sterile Processing
  • Practice excellent customer service toward patients, physicians, and co-workers
  • Serve as preceptor and mentor to staff and students
  • Participate in department improvement activities and quality assurance processes
  • Perform sterilization using advanced techniques such as steam, ETO, and hydrogen peroxide
  • Identify and prioritize sterile products based on surgery schedules
  • Promote a positive work environment and team collaboration
  • Manage departmental resources efficiently and identify cost-saving measures
  • Follow safety protocols including Universal Precautions and appropriate protective attire
  • Use computer systems to track instruments and trays
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Provide training and educational presentations within the department
  • Participate in Shared Governance and organizational committees
