Job Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent education
- Two years of sterile processing experience
- Sterile Processing certification (CRCST or CSPDT)
- Ability to safely perform assigned job duties as demonstrated through skills assessments and evaluations
- Proficiency in English language for communication impacting patient and employee safety
- Ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders
- Follow Universal Precautions
- Exhibit strong interpersonal and team skills
- Ability to use basic computer programs and electronic tracking systems
- Demonstrate problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to handle phone inquiries professionally
- Willingness to be on-call during emergencies
- Ability to work evening shifts
- Ability to wear scrubs as work attire
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent education
- Two years of sterile processing experience
- Sterile Processing certification (CRCST or CSPDT)
- Proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing
- Strong interpersonal and team player skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and co-workers
- Ability to utilize basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office and electronic instrument tracking systems
- Demonstrate problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Follow Universal Precautions and use appropriate protective attire
- Experience in mentoring and coaching staff
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques and surgical instruments
Job Duties
- Maintain high standards for decontamination, assembly, inspecting, wrapping, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment
- Work in conjunction with Operating Room (OR) staff to provide timely sterile products, trays and case carts
- Promote a positive work environment and collaborate with healthcare team
- Serve as a preceptor and implement staff education
- Perform decontamination and assemble complex surgical trays and customized instrumentation
- Function independently to sterilize instruments and surgical trays following manufacturer instructions and institutional policies
- Review and improve sterilization process effectiveness using monitoring systems
- Manage time efficiently to minimize incidental overtime
- Utilize department resources to ensure completeness of trays and instruments according to count sheets
- Perform, train, and mentor industry sterile processing standards including steam, ETO, and low-temperature hydrogen peroxide
- Participate in department improvement activities and Shared Governance committees
