The Senior Software Engineer position within the Disney Consumer Products - Licensing Technology team represents an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled software developer to contribute to transformative technology solutions. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Application Development, this role focuses on the design, development, and deployment of Adaptive Planning models, custom integrations, and innovative AI systems that support enterprise-level forecast planning initiatives. The successful candidate will have expertise in building scalable, performant applications using advanced technologies including Java, Angular, Node JS, and cloud services such as AWS. This role not only demands strong technical proficiency but also leadership skills for mentoring team members and providing guidance throughout the software lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include leading the development of Adaptive Planning dashboards and sheets, creating robust integrations using Java, Python, and RESTful APIs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design sustainable solutions within budget and time constraints. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field/work experience
- Ability to provide technical oversight to offshore development teams
- Experience with cloud application architecture
- Proficiency in Java programming
- Extensive knowledge in relational databases and application performance tuning
- Experience building production-level scalable applications
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks and REST APIs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in Agile development environment
- Self-motivated with strong problem solving skills
Job Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience building highly scalable and performant production level applications
- Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning including model building, reporting and systems integration
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, data transformation, and enterprise reporting tools
- Hands-on expertise in AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn and data pipelines
- Experience in the entire development lifecycle including design, development, testing, analysis and product launch
- Proven collaboration and communication skills across various teams
- Experience mentoring junior team members
- Experience working in Agile teams with product managers, project managers, design, QA, and tech
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-motivated and quick learner
- Strong problem-solving and analysis skills
- Strong knowledge of unit testing and continuous integration
- Deep knowledge of managing, orchestrating and monitoring distributed production systems
Job Duties
- Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of Adaptive Planning models, sheets and dashboards for enterprise-level forecast planning
- Develop custom integrations between Adaptive Planning and other custom solutions using Java, Python, Custom Cloud Loader and RESTful APIs
- Design and develop and provide oversight for web solutions for existing and new platforms
- Analyze user stories, provide realistic estimations, and participate in sprint planning, scrums, demos, and retrospectives
- Collaborate with product and other stakeholders in defining scalable, maintainable solutions within expected budget and timeline
- Create detailed software development documentation and assist in assigning tasks
- Build well-designed, stable, performant applications using Java, Angular, and Node JS
- Guide and mentor team members by providing oversight and direction
- Recommend improvements to processes, technologies, and coding practices that enhance team effectiveness
- Maintain focus and problem solve in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Keep updated with latest technologies and provide creative solutions to new and existing problems
