Job Description
RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, unites 185,000 talented minds with a shared purpose: solving the world's most complex problems through innovation and engineering excellence. With three market-leading businesses, world-class operations, and significant investments in research and development, RTX offers unparalleled capabilities and opportunities. The company has more than 100 years of expertise in delivering solutions that support national defense and security, helping to protect freedoms and deter aggression worldwide. This commitment to safety, trust, respect, accountability, collaboration, and innovation drives RTX's mission to push the boundaries of known science and develop future-ready aerospace and defense technologies.
Positioned at RTX's Tewksbury, Massachusetts facility, the Sr. Principal Systems Administrator Lead role is a critical onsite position designed for an experienced professional who will collaborate closely with program teams managing classified information system capabilities. This role requires the leadership and coordination of a team focused on sustaining secure, cost-efficient IT environments utilizing a heterogeneous infrastructure comprised of Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux server systems. The Sr. Principal Systems Administrator Lead will mentor junior administrators, oversee system configurations, tune performance, and maintain system documentation while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity guidelines. Key responsibilities include managing IT infrastructure performance and availability, guiding configuration of administrator and service accounts, partnering with cybersecurity teams, participating in change management processes, and troubleshooting technical issues. Given the classified nature of the programs supported, the role requires an active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance and the ability to obtain required DoD certifications, including CompTIA Security+ CE or an equivalent, within a reasonable timeframe.
This full-time, onsite position offers a competitive salary range of $107,500 to $204,500 annually, with benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) match, paid time off, and more. Occasional travel within the United States may be required, and the role supports IT infrastructure critical to the defense sector, ensuring operational readiness 24/7, sometimes outside standard work hours. Candidates must be U.S. citizens eligible for government clearance and committed to RTX's core values and mission to create a safer, more secure world through innovative aerospace and defense solutions.
