LA28 is the organizing committee responsible for the 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will be hosted in Los Angeles, California. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management or related field
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in health and safety leadership, including multi-site supervision
  • Experience in construction works including complex infrastructure and temporary events
  • Expert knowledge of construction and site health and safety regulations and best practices, including OSHA/CalOSHA
  • Relevant health and safety certifications such as OSHA 30-hrs
  • Experience leading teams of both full-time and contracted workforce
  • Ability to work in Los Angeles HQ office with some travel to suppliers and venues
  • Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaborative decision-making
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in health and safety leadership including multi-site supervision
  • Experience in construction works including complex infrastructure and temporary events
  • Prior Olympic and Paralympic Games or major events experience a plus
  • Expert knowledge of construction and site health and safety regulations and best practices including OSHA/CalOSHA, working at heights, confined spaces, and heat illness prevention
  • Experience leading teams of full-time and contracted workforce
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management or related field
  • Relevant health and safety certifications such as OSHA 30-hrs
  • Project management certification desired
  • Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaborative decision-making

Job Duties

  • Foster a culture of safety and ensure a safe work environment by partnering with company, site, and contractors' safety leadership
  • Empower site-teams to own health and safety practices and results
  • Prepare health and safety strategy and policy documents for VNI, in coordination with overall LA28 health and safety
  • Advise and report to LA28 leadership on health and safety trends, emerging risks, and evolving regulations
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to address health and safety issues
  • Lead comprehensive risk assessment for VNI activities and develop mitigation strategies for all venues
  • Hire and lead a team of internal and external site health and safety specialists
  • Conduct site safety orientations for all staff, contractors, and suppliers on project sites
  • Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors, recommend and implement corrective actions
  • Conduct, lead, or support accident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and communicate findings and preventative measures
  • Develop and maintain site-specific health and safety documentation, including manuals, checklists, procedures, and training records
  • Conduct continuous improvement activities to validate and improve safety plans
  • Monitor and audit site activities and reports to LA28 and VNI standards
  • Ensure health and safety compliance of all contractors, suppliers, and staff on site
  • Participate in relevant regulatory certifications, compliance reporting, and other safety training
