This position, Medical Center Food Service Worker Senior, is an essential role within the Nutrition and Food Services department. The individual in this role collaborates as part of a team to provide food service that is safe, accurate, timely, and responsive to both customer and patient needs. Key responsibilities include ensuring the cleaning and sanitation of food service areas and equipment are conducted safely and thoroughly. Duties may involve deep cleaning of kitchen equipment, meticulous floor and floormat cleaning, careful sorting and removal of waste, and performing tasks in the dishroom and potroom. The position may require working under conditions involving warm or wet environments and maintaining exceptional customer service, patient, and staff interactions. Serving as an ambassador for the department, the individual helps uphold UCSF Health's high standards for safety, sanitation, and service quality.

This is a full-time, career position with a work schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and variable shift assignments with 8-hour shifts. The role requires flexibility to work across all UCSF Medical Center locations. The salary range for this position is $27.25 to $36.69 per hour, with final placement dependent on experience, internal equity, and applicable union agreements. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years customer facing experience in food service, hospitality or retail industries
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Flexibility to work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years of customer facing experience within the food service, hospitality or retail industries
  • Ability to read, write, follow written or oral instructions and be understood in English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
  • Ability to meet physical demands involved with job duties
  • Two years of college or equivalent preferred
  • State of California Food Handler certification or Servsafe certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide food service that is safe, accurate, timely and responsive to customer and patient needs
  • Clean and sanitize food service areas and equipment in a safe manner
  • Perform detailed cleaning of kitchen equipment

  • Sort and remove waste efficiently
