Their commitment to nurturing talent through comprehensive training, development, and recognition has cultivated an environment where care and excellence define every meal shared, making them an employer of choice for passionate hospitality professionals.
The Executive Chef position at Morrison Living, based onsite in Indianapolis with relocation assistance available, offers an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and hands-on culinary leader. This role commands a salary range of $110,000 to $120,000 annually and involves driving the culinary operations' overall success. The Executive Chef will oversee the daily kitchen functions, including recruiting, training, food preparation, and ensuring the delivery of show-quality meals. This leadership role requires a proactive individual ready to engage directly in cooking tasks while inspiring and developing the onsite culinary team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing resident, employee, and client satisfaction while managing financial performance by maintaining monthly budgets and controlling food and labor costs.
This role incorporates leadership in culinary production, food quality and presentation, and adherence to strict safety and sanitation standards. The Executive Chef will be responsible for menu development that highlights seasonal ingredients, oversees product consistency, and ensures compliance with health regulations. A deep understanding of customer preferences, the ability to innovate through specials and unique food displays, and maintaining the highest standards of food freshness and safety are integral to the position.
The Executive Chef also brings strong business acumen, managing controllable expenses, analyzing financial data to adjust business plans, controlling labor and food costs, and maintaining purchasing and inventory standards. The role demands a strategic thinker capable of forecasting, budgeting, and identifying opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost reduction.
Customer service excellence and team leadership are equally significant. The chef is expected to foster a culture of 100% resident satisfaction by empowering staff through training and resources that enhance engagement and service quality. Handling guest feedback, coaching employees, and encouraging a professional and welcoming environment form the core of ensuring exceptional customer experience.
Furthermore, the Executive Chef guides team building and management practices, setting clear goals, soliciting employee feedback, and cultivating a supportive workplace where employees receive fair treatment, continuous training, and the tools necessary for success. This role emphasizes open communication, performance feedback, and coaching to unlock employees' full potential.
Preferred qualifications include an Associate of Science degree or equivalent experience, a minimum of five years in progressive culinary/kitchen management, extensive catering and high-volume foodservice experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and related computer skills. ServSafe certification is highly desirable. Morrison Living offers a comprehensive benefits package, reflective of its dedication to employee well-being and professional growth, including medical, dental, vision coverage, retirement plans, and various other supportive programs. Joining Morrison Living means becoming part of a community committed to building connections through the love of food and hospitality.
