Among its many public resources, The Farm at Lee Martinez Park stands out as a cherished destination featuring educational and interactive farm experiences. Established in 1985, this facility offers a unique blend of recreational activities including farm animal encounters, pony rides, party rentals, and a farm store, making it a favorite spot for families and visitors seeking engaging local entertainment. The Farm is dedicated to enriching the community through accessible and enjoyable programs that promote learning and connection with nature and agriculture.
The City of Fort Collins is currently seeking a Senior Coordinator for Recreation to join the team at The Farm at Lee Martinez Park. This full-time, regular, classified position is located at the Martinez Farm Office and offers an annual salary range between $54,238 and $81,358, with an anticipated hiring range from $56,000 to $70,000. The role requires a non-exempt FLSA status, meaning the position is eligible for overtime compensation. The Senior Coordinator will play a pivotal role in enhancing and expanding the programming offered at The Farm, which includes managing camps, classes, and special events. This leadership position also involves frequently collaborating with staff and volunteers to ensure exceptional program delivery and guest satisfaction. Occasional responsibilities include providing support in farm operations such as animal care and general maintenance, embodying a hands-on approach to the role.
In this role, the Senior Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating, scheduling, instructing, and supervising a variety of recreational activities. The position entails overseeing program budgets, tracking revenues, authorizing expenditures, and maintaining accurate department records to support transparent and efficient operations. Additionally, the coordinator will lead efforts in marketing and promoting recreation programs through collaboration with the department’s communication team. This includes assisting in the preparation of publications, brochures, news releases, and flyers to effectively engage the community. Maintaining strong customer service by answering inquiries, handling registrations, and providing referrals is a critical aspect of the position.
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and a strong cultural competence to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. They should demonstrate a learning orientation, creativity, and adaptability in response to community needs and evolving trends. The ability to utilize digital tools for communication and organizational purposes is essential. Candidates should be available to work flexible hours including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Required certifications include CPR/AED and First Aid within six months of hire, along with a valid driver’s license.
Working for the City of Fort Collins comes with a robust benefits package featuring medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families starting the first of the month following hire. Employees enjoy paid vacation, holidays, sick leave, and an additional 40 hours of PTO for new full-time classified and unclassified management hires. Retirement plans with company contributions begin after a six-month probation period, with immediate vesting. The city also offers flexible spending accounts, an employee assistance program, life insurance, disability insurance, wellness programs, workplace health clinics, learning and development opportunities, and a collaborative work environment that values diversity and inclusion. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate recreation professional to contribute meaningfully to a well-respected community institution while developing their career in a supportive and innovative municipal environment.
