The Specialty Team Member role at Whole Foods Market is an entry-level position that plays a crucial part in supporting the store's regional Specialty vision. These team members are responsible for receiving and preparing specialty products, maintaining the specialty floor and displays, and providing exceptional service to customers. The position requires a commitment to maintaining Whole Foods Market's quality standards, including food safety and sanitation, while engaging customers in a positive and proactive selling approach. Specialty Team Members are expected to ensure fresh and appealing product displays, manage inventory effectively to minimize waste, and assist with sampling programs to delight customers. This role is fundamental to maintaining the overall customer experience at the store by offering knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly service. Team members must adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures and promote the company’s core values and initiatives. Whole Foods Market offers hourly wages ranging from $15.00 to $24.40, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package known as Whole Benefits, which includes store discounts, paid time off, financial wellness, health and wellness support programs, and other team member perks. Job Requirements

  • No prior retail experience required
  • must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing or walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • work requires motions such as bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in a wet and cold environment
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • where applicable, completion of TIPS course and age 18 or older to serve alcohol

Job Duties

  • Surprises and delights customers with consistent and delicious food
  • engages in positive and proactive selling
  • ensures a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well-stocked
  • checks product to ensure it meets Whole Foods Market quality standards
  • monitors spoilage and supply waste to minimize impact on department expenses
  • assists with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean and appealing
  • maintains back stock in good order
