Job Description
Whole Foods Market is a leading supermarket chain that focuses on providing high-quality natural and organic foods. Founded with a mission to nourish people and the planet, Whole Foods Market has become synonymous with excellence in the grocery industry. The company is committed to supporting local communities and promoting sustainability through initiatives such as funding grants for school gardens, providing fresh food access to underserved areas, and alleviating poverty in developing countries. Whole Foods Market is more than just a grocery store; it’s a place where employees can grow personally and professionally while making a meaningful difference in their communities and beyond. The company values diversity, inclusivity, and equity, ensuring a fair and equal employment opportunity for all team members and candidates regardless of race, gender, religion, or other protected characteristics.
This role is a part of the Specialty team at Whole Foods Market. The position involves supporting the team by receiving and preparing products, maintaining attractive specialty floor displays, and selling products in alignment with the regional Specialty vision. The role requires delivering an exceptional customer experience by providing friendly, courteous, and efficient service to customers and team members. Employees in this role must adhere to team and store Standard Operating Procedures and comply with all health and safety regulations, including food safety and sanitation standards. This position also requires flexibility and readiness to perform duties typical of other team member roles to support overall store operations.
The Specialty team member is responsible for keeping product displays fresh, clean, and well-stocked, checking products for quality to meet Whole Foods Market standards, and monitoring spoilage to control department expenses. Assisting with sampling programs and maintaining back stock organization are also key duties. Employees must be knowledgeable about market conditions and convey relevant information to customers to enhance their shopping experience. The role demands strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency. Team members are expected to engage proactively in selling, maximize sales potential through proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising products and maintain a clean, sanitary working environment.
Physical requirements of the position include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, standing and walking for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour shift, and performing motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching. The role may expose employees to cold, wet environments and FDA-approved cleaning chemicals. A flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays is necessary. Whole Foods Market offers a wage range of $15.00 to $24.40 hourly, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package called "Whole Benefits" that covers paid time off, financial wellness, health and wellness support programs, store discounts, and more. New entry-level team members may be eligible for a base rate increase after 90 days of employment.
Overall, this position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to join a company committed to sustainability, community involvement, and delivering outstanding customer service within the specialty food retail sector. Its focus on teamwork, quality standards, and employee growth creates a dynamic and rewarding work environment for team members dedicated to the Whole Foods Market mission.
