The Specialty Team Member role is an entry-level position focused on supporting the Specialty department's goals by receiving and preparing products, maintaining attractive displays, and providing outstanding customer service aligned with the regional Specialty vision. This role requires team members to maintain a positive image of the company through courteous, friendly, and efficient interactions with both customers and fellow team members. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with food safety and regulatory standards, supporting store and regional programs, and maintaining department cleanliness and order.

While no prior retail experience is required, team members must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong work ethic and a sense of urgency. The position involves physical activity such as lifting up to 50 pounds and standing or walking for extended periods. The wage range for this position is $15.00 to $24.40 hourly, commensurate with experience. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing and walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • ability to work in temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and cold environments
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • where applicable, completion of TIPS course and age 18 years or older to serve alcohol

Job Duties

  • Surprises and delights customers with consistent and delicious food
  • engages in positive and proactive selling
  • ensures a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well-stocked
  • checks product to ensure it meets Whole Foods Market quality standards
  • monitors spoilage and supply waste to minimize impact on department expenses
  • assists with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean and appealing
  • maintains back stock in good order
  • accesses information about market conditions and communicates to customers
  • ensures temperature, sanitation and sweep logs are completed
  • arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
  • provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • answers phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • follows and complies with established procedures, including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices

  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
