The Specialty Team Member role at Whole Foods Market is an entry-level position designed to deliver an exceptional customer experience within the Specialty department of the store. This role involves a variety of important duties including receiving and preparing product, maintaining attractive and fresh specialty food displays, and engaging customers with positive selling techniques aligned with the regional Specialty vision. Team members perform their duties in adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations, including food safety standards. Job Requirements
- No prior retail experience required
- must be able to lift 50 pounds
- standing or walking 6-8 hours during an 8-hour shift
- hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
- ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- ability to work in temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- ability to work in wet and cold environments
- ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- ability to use tools and equipment including box cutters and electric pallet jacks
- TIPS training completion and age 18 or older if serving alcohol

Job Duties
- Surprises and delights customers with consistent and delicious food
- engages in positive and proactive selling
- ensures a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well-stocked
- checks product to ensure it meets Whole Foods Market quality standards
- monitors spoilage and supply waste to minimize impact on department expenses
- assists with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean and appealing
- maintains back stock in good order
- provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
- maximizes sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
- follows and complies with established procedures including health and sanitation
- maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
- performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
- immediately reports safety hazards and violations
- performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership
