Job Description
The Phoenician a Luxury Collection Resort Scottsdale is a prestigious and luxurious resort located in Scottsdale, Arizona. As part of Marriott International, a global leader in the hospitality industry, The Phoenician delivers a unique and authentic luxury experience that combines the rich cultural heritage of the region with modern comforts and impeccable service. This resort is known for its exquisite accommodations, world-class amenities, and exceptional dining experiences, making it a sought-after destination for travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure. The property boasts stunning desert landscapes, elegant guest rooms, a championship golf course, a luxurious spa, and a variety of dining venues that serve carefully crafted dishes using high-quality ingredients.
The resort is now seeking dedicated culinary associates to join their team for the evening shift at J&G Steakhouse, one of its premier dining establishments. This full-time, non-management position focuses on food preparation and culinary support, with opportunities for growth through specialized training programs. The Phoenician partners with the Rouxbe Cooking School to provide employees with engaging online culinary education, enabling them to enhance their skills and advance their careers within the Marriott family. Through this partnership, team members have access to hundreds of well-designed lessons that are visually appealing and immediately applicable to their daily duties.
The culinary associate's role involves preparing ingredients such as portioning, chopping, storing food safely, and pulling items from freezer storage for thawing. They will weigh, measure, and mix according to recipes or personal judgment, ensuring the quality, presentation, and standards of each dish. Monitoring food quality and testing for proper cooking through tasting and other methods is crucial, as is serving food in correct portions with appropriate garnishing. The candidate will also be responsible for using kitchen tools safely, washing and disinfecting work areas, checking appliance and food temperatures, and notifying management if products do not meet quality specifications. Communication with team members during busy periods and adherence to all safety, security, and company policies are essential components of the role.
Uniform and personal appearance standards must be maintained, and associates are expected to provide warm, professional guest interactions that reflect Marriott's commitment to hospitality excellence. The ability to work well in a team environment, respond to concerns effectively, and contribute to shared goals is also important. Physical demands include standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods and moving objects up to 10 pounds without assistance. Overall, this is a position that balances culinary craftsmanship with operational efficiency and guest service, offering a rewarding pathway for individuals passionate about food and hospitality to develop within a world-renowned luxury brand.
