Whole Foods Market is a leading natural and organic foods supermarket dedicated to fostering personal growth, community well-being, and meaningful environmental change. Established with a purpose to nourish both people and the planet, Whole Foods Market operates as a revolutionizing force within the grocery industry by setting the highest standards of excellence. This company is more than just a grocery store; it’s a community partner actively involved in enhancing how people eat, supporting school garden grants, improving access to fresh and healthy foods in underserved areas, alleviating poverty around the globe, and numerous other initiatives that contribute to global and local sustainability.
At Whole Foods Market, the culture emphasizes teamwork, respect, and a positive work environment, encouraging employees to develop professionally and personally. The company offers comprehensive benefits known as "Whole Benefits," which provide a wide range of supports for both full-time and part-time team members, including store discounts, paid time off, health and wellness programs, and financial wellness support. The position available is hourly, with a competitive wage range from $19.05 to $33.20 per hour based on experience.
The role primarily assists the Team Leader in managing daily store operations with an emphasis on profitability, expense control, merchandising, labor management, regulatory compliance, and special projects. The Assistant Team Leader plays a crucial leadership role by guiding and developing team members, ensuring that the store meets its goals for sales, purchasing, and labor efficiency. This role demands a commitment to excellent customer service and operational standards consistent with Whole Foods Market’s values. The Assistant Team Leader is responsible for maintaining an attractive store layout and product merchandising, analyzing sales reports, assisting in budget preparation, managing inventory, and fostering a positive work atmosphere. The position acts as the departmental point person in the absence of the Team Leader.
This role requires a high degree of energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge of specialty products, with a mindset geared towards growth and ownership. The ideal candidate is motivated to coach and mentor others, possess strong interpersonal and team-building skills, and demonstrate proficiency in handling business operations and safety regulations. Experience levels expected include at least 18 months of retail team member work coupled with six months of supervisory experience. The job involves physical requirements such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for long periods, performing bending and reaching motions, and working in various temperature conditions including cold, wet, and warm environments. Candidates must also be capable of working flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays, and may require job-specific certifications like TIPS when serving alcohol.
Overall, a position with Whole Foods Market offers a unique opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, socially responsible company deeply committed to altering the way the world consumes food. It is ideal for those passionate about promoting health, sustainability, and community while advancing their career in retail leadership within a supportive and inclusive environment.
