The role at the Hunter Museum of American Art is designed for a customer service-oriented and team-focused individual who will assist with the seamless execution of special events at the museum. This position is part-time and hourly, paying $18.00 per hour, and is critical in ensuring that all guests experience a high level of satisfaction during both private and public museum events. Working primarily during evenings and weekends, with occasional holidays and emergency call-ins, the ideal candidate must be flexible and dedicated. Their duties include setting up and breaking down event equipment, serving as a special events bartender, and managing bar inventory accurately. They are also responsible for maintaining cleanliness, adhering to safety standards, and collaborating closely with caterers, vendors, and internal museum staff to meet all event requirements. This role demands strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests, solve problems in real-time, and contribute to a positive and educational experience. Physical stamina is essential, as the position requires standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40 pounds. Candidates should have bartending experience, an active ABC license, and a valid driver’s license. Job Requirements

  • Part-time hourly position earning $18.00 per hour
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule primarily during evenings and weekends with occasional holiday hours
  • On-call availability for emergencies required
  • Must provide minimum availability of 3 shifts per month
  • Must be available for all mandatory annual events like Terrace at Twilight and Spectrum
  • Must submit application, TN ABC license, and resume through the museum’s careers site by April 6, 2026 at 5:00 PM EST

Job Qualifications

  • Must have a valid ABC license and driver’s license
  • Bartending experience preferred
  • Knowledge of bartending tools, batching, and craft/custom cocktail creation
  • General housekeeping and grounds keeping skills
  • Food service experience preferred
  • Ability to take direction and work as part of a team
  • Ability to stand for 3-5 hours and lift and transport objects up to 40 lbs

Job Duties

  • Assist with set up and break down of equipment used during special events as needed
  • Serve as a special events bartender for private and public events
  • Properly pull bar product for private and Museum events and record accurate amounts taken and returned
  • Use customer service skills to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Interact with and assist guests during private or Museum internal events
  • Clean and place recycling materials in proper containers and take trash to dumpster after events
  • Ensure safe working conditions and procedures for staff, guests, and vendors
  • Work closely with caterers, vendors, and special event staff to ensure quality and adherence to Museum guidelines
  • Solve problems that arise during events at the Museum
  • Share information with clients to ensure an educational and enjoyable experience
  • Maintain sanitary conditions of facilities during and after special events
  • Work with various departments to assist with both internal and external events
